The driver, Saji Kochumman, 41, was in stable condition and transported to The Valley Hospital, Fire Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, citing a suspected medical emergency as the cause of the incident.

The car drove off the roadway and into snowbanks and a street sign, just before 11:30 a.m., responders told Daily Voice.

It continued sliding down the snow and into a small parking lot, before going airborne briefly, hitting a tree and landing in a second parking lot, across from 7-Eleven on Ridgewood Avenue.

Three men nearby noticed what was happening and called 9-1-1, they told Daily Voice. They tried kicking in the windows until police and fire officials responded in less than a minute, the men told Daily Voice.

Paramus Rescue Squad and Fire Department cut the roof off of the vehicle and extricated the driver, Ehrenberg said.
